Asks BJP govt to account for funds allocated by Centre for various schemes

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday charged the BJP government in Karnataka with having “looted” the state and “incited” communal feelings.      

On the second and final leg of her campaign for the May 5 Assembly polls in the state, she asked the BJP government to account for the funds allotted by the Centre for various schemes.

“Where did the central funds go?” she posed to the gathering and said the people had every right to ask the government to account for the money.  

The UPA was determined to provide an “accountable government” and accord rights due to Dalits, backward classes and Adivasis and alleviate sufferings of farmers, she said.     “..The BJP government has looted the state. It is very shameful,” Gandhi said.  

She said communal harmony used to prevail in Karnataka but the BJP government had “incited” communal feelings. “We have always believed in communal harmony and are against forces which disrupt communal harmony.”

“We have never discriminated on the basis of caste or creed. For us, all are children of India,” she said.   Asking the people to “think and choose the right government,” Gandhi said they should vote for a party, which would provide a strong and stable government.
