Buoyed by Assam victory, the Union Minister Jitendra Singh today said that BJP has made major inroads in north-east within a year.
"Within one year BJP has made major inroads in north-east. Now we are in power in three states. One year ago we had no presence in these areas," Singh told PTI during his visit to Jammu to lay the foundation of a bridge on Ujh river in Kathua district today.
"BJP scored victory in Assam on Wednesday, and on 24 May, CM candidate Sarbananda Sonowal is going take oath," Singh said.
The Union minister said, "In Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland we are already in the coalition (government). In that way, in three out of 7 NE states, we are in the power."
Singh said, "people have reiterated their faith in the leadership of Narendra Modi and youth of the country have begun to realise that their future is secure under the Modi government.
"They have understood if they have a government in the state which will work in close coordination with the Government at the Centre, it will serve their interests better".
He said the recent success in north-east has vindicated that Modi has emerged as a binding force in entire country from Assam to Maharashtra and from Jammu and Kashmir to Tamil Nadu.
BJP, which is a nationalist party has increased its foot print across the country after the recent poll results and Congress' influence has shrunk. BJP has a pan-India presence now, he said.
On the issue of power projects of J&K, he said that centre is very clear that those cannot be returned to the state.
"But (Finance Minister Haseeb) Drabu says we are negotiating. Who is he negotiating with?," Singh said.
