Prominent leaders of the party including former chief minister P K Dhumal, state party chief Satpal Singh Satti led demonstrations and dharnas and lashed out at the government over the law and order issue.
Addressing protesters at Hamirpur, Dhumal said that the law and order machinery had collapsed and those committing serious crimes were going unpunished due to the protection and casual approach of the police.
He denounced the statement of the chief minister that the BJP was trying to politicise the Kotkhai case and said that people of entire state were seeking justice for the victim.
BJP leaders also submitted a memorandum to the Governor seeking dismissal of the government.
