After completing the membership drive, BJP today launched a mass contact programme under which the party workers have been tasked to make house-to-house visits to touch base with new members and apprise them about its ideology.
The three-month programme got off with BJP chief Amit Shah meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had become the first member under the new membership drive launched on November 1 last year.
At the end of membership drive yesterday, Shah had claimed that the party had made around 10.5 crore members.
"Contacted BJP's first member Prime Minister Narendra Modi and started BJP's mass contact programme.
"I appeal to all workers to go house to house and contact all new members and apprise them of the party's ideology," Shah said after meeting Modi.
The BJP chief was accompanied by party general secretary (Organisation) Ram Lal and other leaders who are members of the mass contact drive - Bhupinder Yadav, Kailash Vijayvargiya, Santosh and Saroj Pandey.
As part of the party's three-month contact programme, all workers will meet the new members to confirm and verify their membership with the party, the BJP President said.
They will also hand over the party's history, a letter from the party chief and the party's ideology and confirm their membership earlier done through online mobile technology.
Shah said the party will create a databank of its new members at district level and will involve the new members in party works - social and others as per their interests and also in the party's expansion work.
After the mass contact drive ending on July 31, the party would launch a major training programme for its workers that will carry on for another three months.
Shah added that all those members who submit a list of 100 new members made by them and contact them will be made active members after the drive.
