Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Danve said that the NCP has no moral right to agitate against the government since their leaders had committed irregularities in irrigation projects to the tune of Rs 70,000 crore.
"The drought is the result of the irrigation scam committed by the NCP," Danve said, criticising the NCP's plan to stage a "jail bharo" agitation against the government for its failure tackle drought.
He said that the BJP-led state government is competent to tackle drought condition, adding that an action plan has been chalked out to provide relief to farmers.
He said that the BJP has asked ministers and MLAs to visit drought-hit districts and tehsils to provide relief to distressed farmers.
The state government has released Rs 950 crore to drought hit areas, he said.
