"Deeply saddened by the demise of Kamla Advani ji. My heartfelt condolences to the Advani family. May God give strength (to them) to bear the great pain," Shah said in a tweet.
Former party chief and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari called her a source of strength for the grieving family as he expressed his "profound grief and deep sorrow".
"Deeply pained to learn of Smt. Kamla Advani's demise. May God give Shri L K Advaniji and his family the strength to bear this great loss," Rajnath Singh, also a former party chief and now Home Minister, said.
Party's general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya described Kamla as "a Mother figure". "Now the death anniversary of Kamla Advaniji shall eternally be revered on BJP's Foundation Day," he tweeted.
Today is also the foundation day of the party.
Senior RSS functionary Dattatreya Hosabale tweeted, "My deep condolences to Advaniji & family. Paying homage to Kamlaji & pray to almighty to grant lasting peace to departed soul. She lived an ideal life by Advaniji's side and was an affectionate Mata to all of us through her hospitality".
Kamla Advani (83) died today at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) due to heart failure.
