BJP MLA, 119 others booked for violating code of conduct

An FIR was today registered against a BJP MLA and 119 others for "violating" prohibitory orders and model code of conduct for upcoming Uttar Pradesh Panchayat elections.
The FIR has been registered against MLA Upendra Tiwari and 19 others named and 100 unnamed at Narahi police station for violating model code of conduct and prohibitory orders, police said.
Tiwari was campaigning for Sunita Singh, who is contesting for the post of district panchyat member, with cavalcade of 70 vehicles and took out procession in Piprakala village, the FIR said.
Uttar Pradesh Panchayat elections is scheduled to start from October 9.
Police is probing the matter.
