The BJP today submitted a memorandum to the Special Investigative Team (SIT) demanding action against Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh for levelling baseless and politically motivated allegations against Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan regarding the MPPEB scam.
The memorandum was submitted by Madhya Pradesh BJP President Nandkumar Singh Chouhan to SIT Chairman Justice Chandresh Bhushan.
They demanded that the SIT should take cognisance of allegedly false complaints and affidavits submitted by Digvijay Singh.
The BJP leaders alleged that the Congress leader submitted an Excel sheet claiming that it is an original document, without revealing its source. They said that an Excel sheet could be prepared using any computer.
They said that the STF had submitted a charge sheet under the supervision of the High Court, based on the Excel sheet retrieved from the seized hard disk of the MPPEB computer.
Their memorandum said that after nearly two years of filing of an FIR in the case and also after dismissal of Digvijay Singh's petition in the High Court as well as Supreme Court demanding a CBI probe into the scam, submission of a fresh complaint in the matter revealed Congress leader's intentions.
The Supreme Court had directed filing of chargesheets in all cases related to the scam by March 15, but it appears that the aim of Digvijay Singh's "baseless" complaint is to delay the matter, the BJP memorandum said.
The BJP leaders also demanded legal action against Digvijay Singh.
