BJP today fired a fresh salvo at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by raking up comments made by him and his foe-turned-ally Lalu Prasad against each other.
After Kumar wrote an open letter, asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apologise for his DNA jibe at him which "insulted" Bihar, BJP today questioned sarcastically if the "praises" Prasad heaped on him were also meant for the entire state and will he ask him to explain them.
"We have to ask this question because Nitish Kumar think Bihar begins and ends at him. That is why if something is addressed to him, he think it will be applicable to all of Bihar," Union Minister and Bihar MP Giriraj Singh said in a statement.
Soon after Kumar split with BJP over the elevation of Modi in 2013, Prasad called him a "fraud", "crook" and "scandalous" who is talking about secularism after failing on all fronts, Singh said.
"Nitish Kumar is so bad and scandalous. He is in a minority now and has gone mad. He is nobody's friend and a crook," Singh quoted Prasad saying after reports that RJD could split to support the JD(U) leader.
Highlighting Kumar's attacks on Prasad, Singh said the Bihar Chief Minister made fun of him after he was released on bail.
"Where he is coming from should be taken into account. What is there to celebrate," Kumar said over celebration in the RJD camp. "Worse was to come to Prasad," Kumar had said.
Singh said what these leaders spoke about each and their alliance now was an example of opportunist politics and the people of Bihar would reject both of them.
"Power for BJP is not bigger than Bihar. Had it been so, then it would not have declared Nitish Kumar its chief ministerial candidate despite being the bigger party," he said, claiming his party was committed to the state's development.
