BJP rejects exit poll results, says it will win 34-38 seats

Strongly rejecting the exit poll findings predicting an AAP victory, BJP today said it was confident of winning the Delhi assembly polls and returning to power in the national capital after a gap of 16 years.
After a meeting with party's leaders and candidates from around 65 constituencies, Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay said his party was on course of forming a government as it will get anything between 34 and 38 seats.
The meeting was also attended by BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi, party General Secretary (Organisation) Ram Lal, Delhi in-charge Prabhat Jha and senior leaders V K Malhotra and Vijay Goel. Party MPs Ramesh Bidhuri, Udit Raj and Parvesh Verma were also present.

"We completely reject the findings of the exit polls. We analysed our performance in the polls and are confident of forming a government. We are going to get at least 34-38 seats," Upadhyay told PTI.
Before going to the meeting, Bedi said whether defeat or victory, she will take the responsibility for BJP's showing.
The BJP is out of power in Delhi since 1998.

Upadhyay said majority of the party candidates presented their analysis of the party's performance in their respective constituencies based on which it was felt that the party will emerge victorious in the polls.
"We analysed our performance in all the constituencies and based on that we felt we will form a government in Delhi under the leadership of Kiran Bedi," Upadhyay said, adding "We assessed the ground realities for each of the constituencies based on people's feedback and assessment of candidates."

After the polling yesterday, various exit polls had predicted a clear victory for the Aam Aadmi Party with one of them giving it as many as 53 seats in the 70-member House, while projecting BJP to be the main opposition party.
Upadhyay said the exit poll predictions after assembly polls in December 2013 were "totally wrong" and that BJP rejected the findings of yesterday's exit polls. "This time we are definitely forming the government," he said.
Pressed further to comment on the exit polls, Upadhyay said, "We have assessed all seats, took feedback and factored in ground realities, and talked to booth management. It is our assessment and I can say with lot of clarity that we are forming the government."

An estimated 67 per cent turnout was recorded in Delhi, where 673 candidates are in the fray.
