BJP replicates 2009 success in C'garh, bags 10 out 11 LS seats

Repeating its stunning performance of 2009, the ruling BJP today won ten out of the eleven Lok Sabha seats of Chhattisgarh, while Congress failed to improve its tally from the last time, managing to grab one seat.
In 2009 too, Congress had captured only one seat (Korba).
State BJP chief and the sitting MP Vishnudeo Sai won by a huge margin of 2,16,750 votes from Raigarh (ST) seat against Congress' Aarti Singh, whereas another BJP strongman and sitting MP from Naxal-hit Bastar, Dinesh Kashyap, defeated Congress's Deepak Karma by 1,24,359 votes.
From Bilaspur, BJP's Lakhanlal Sahu defeated Congress's Karuna Shukla -- the niece of former PM Atal Bihari Vajapyee -- by 1,76,436 votes.
Union Minister of State for Agriculture and veteran Congress leader Charandas Mahant lost to BJP's Bashilal Mahto by 4,265 votes in Korba.
Chief Minister Raman Singh's son, debutant Abhishek Singh won by a whopping 2,35,911 votes against Congress' Kamleshwar Verma.
BJP's prominent woman leader and sitting MP Kamla Devi Patle has captured her home constituency Janjgir-Champa seat (SC) against Congress' Prem Chand Jaisi by 1,74,961 votes while in Surguja (ST), Kamalbhan Singh Marawi of BJP defeated Congress' Ram Dev Ram by 1,47,357 votes.
BJP's sitting MP from Raipur and veteran leader Ramesh Bais has defeated the incumbent Congress MLA Satyanarayan Sharma by 1,71,646 votes.
Besides, former minister and sitting BJP MLA Vikram Usendi defeated Congress nominee Phulo Devi Netam by 35,158 votes from Kanker (ST).
Surprisingly, former Chief Minister and Congress strongman Ajit Jogi, who was leading earlier, suffered a loss to the BJP's sitting MP Chandulal Sahu by 1,217 votes.
Congress managed to win only Durg seat where its former MLA Tamradhwaj Sahu defeated national president of BJP Mahila Morcha Saroj Pandey by 16,448 votes.
