BJP shielding high-profile people in multi-crore land

City Congress chief Prithviraj Chauhan today accused the BJP of shielding high-profile people involved in an alleged multi-crore land acquisition scam in the state.
"The Centre is deliberately delaying a CBI probe into the scam related to land accquistaion for the NH-74 as several big officials and politicians are involved in it," he alleged here.
The party will soon file a petition in the Uttarakhand High Court seeking its intervention to expedite the process of having the CBI investigate the case, he said.
"A party that keeps on talking about eliminating corruption and institutes a CBI probe even into small irregularities is trying to push a scam of this magnitude under the carpet. The Congress will protest and take it to court," he said.

The BJP after coming to power had detected major irregularities to the tune of Rs 240 crore in the acquisition of land for the National Highway-74.
Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had immediately suspended six officials and recommended a CBI probe into the scam.
However, the Centre is yet to order the CBI to investigate the case, which took place in Udhamsingh Nagar district between 2011-2016.
