CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury today said BJP and Trinamool Congress have entered into a "marriage of convenience", but the "match-fixing" by them will never wipe out "red flags" from the country.
"It is evident that there is match-fixing between BJP and TMC. TMC needs BJP to escape a CBI inquiry into the Saradha scam, while BJP needs TMC's support to pass anti-people policies in Parliament.
"The people of Bengal have been facing atrocities because of this marriage of convenience. But, to fight against such threats, we have to strengthen the unity of Left parties and have to take everyone along. We have to walk together," Yechury said at a party programme here.
"There is no rule of law in Bengal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee issued threats that she can foil our movement in a minute. She wants to do something which even (Adolf) Hitler and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi could not do. These threats will not succeed in stopping us," he said.
The CPI(M) leader said that the Left's Nabanna march recently and subsequent protest movements in Bengal had created a tremor across the country and asked the state party leadership to "intensify the protests".
"Last month's agitation has created a strong wave across the country and there is a notion among people that a fight has started against the TMC government.
"The time has come to intensify the protest movements to throw TMC out of power," Yechury added.
