Party state general secretary M T Ramesh said the party took the decision in wake of allegations that Mani, a senior CPI(M) leader helped land encroachment in Idukki district and his kin was the "beneficiary" of such illegal deal, Ramesh told reporters here.
He said reports about alleged illegal financial activities by Mani's brother were already out and a probe into the matter was necessary.
The BJP decided to approach the Enforcement Directorate seeking probe against Mani's brother, Ramesh said.
