Taking note of the power cuts that are adding to the woes of Kanpur residents, BJP has threatened to protest if the situation does not improve.
BJP Kanpur President Surendra Maithani has sent a warning to the MD of Kanpur Electricity Supply Company Ltd (KESCO) saying if the situation fails to improve, their party will stage protests.
"The residents are facing problems due to undeclared power cuts for 10-12 hours. Traders are also suffering. After the poll debacle of the Samajwadi party here, no complaints of powercuts are being entertained by the SP leaders," Maithani said.
However, KESCO officials have said that the problem is arising due to the excessive power load resulting in technical failures of the transformers.
"Efforts are on to get the technical problems in transformers rectified and the duration of powercuts will be reduced soon," a KESCO official said.
