BJP workers here today joined the countrywide cleanliness campaign "Swachh Bharat" mission at Kashmir's lone children's hospital which was flooded earlier this month.
"On the Prime Minister's call, we undertook a cleanliness drive at G B pant hospital which was affected by the floods," chairman of the BJP's state campaign committee Nirmal Singh told reporters here.
He said the floods devastated Kashmir and it was necessary to clean the Valley to check the spread of diseases.
"After the floods, there are apprehensions of water-borne diseases. Cleanliness is a must to check them, so we undertook the cleanliness drive," he said, adding the Prime Minister has asserted that cleanliness of the country was important for its development.
However, there were no other organised drives for cleaning up the neighbourhoods.
