Led by Rakesh Tikait, the national general secretary of BKU, thousands of farmers from nearby villages shut the entry gates of the all the major industrial units, including Modi Sugar Mills, Modi Distillery and Modi Paints.
Later, BKU members assembled at the gates of Shriram Pistons Unit at Ghaziabad and locked the main entrance after raising slogans against the company's management.
Tikait said that BKU would not let the sugar mills operate until the arrears towards sugarcane growers were cleared.
