Black pepper gains on lacklustre trade

Black pepper prices gained further in an otherwise lacklustre spices market here today following sustained demand from stockists and retailers.
While ginger unbleached and copra prices all held stable in the absence of any large-scale buying activity.
Black pepper rose by Rs 10 per kg to Rs 440/540 from Monday's closing level of Rs 430/530.
Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):
Black pepper (per kg) 440/540 (430/530), ginger unbleached (per kg) 125 (125), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 14,800 (14,800), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 14,600 (14,600), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 18,000 (18,000), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 16,000 (16,000).
