The bodies of Ian Turton Richard (45) from Poland and his British friend Michael David John Easton have been recovered, Ramanagar SP Anupam Agarwal told PTI.

A 60-member team of rescuers from Madras Engineering Group and other voluntary organisation were engaged in efforts to trace them in different parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu along Cauvery river.

"The rescuers also used helicopter to trace the missing foreign nationals," Agarwal said.

Yesterday, the team found the raft punctured and trapped between two rocks in a 200-feet gorge near Makedatu. The mobile phone belonging to Turton was also recovered.

The rescue team stopped their search operations last night following poor visibility around the gorge and considering the area was infested with crocodiles, he said.

Operations resumed around 9.30 am today and Turton's body was sighted and towards evening Easton's was traced.

Post-mortem would be conducted tomorrow, Agarwal said.
