Body exhumed, following complaint by mother

The body of a pregnant woman, buried a month ago, was exhumed from a burial ground near here for examination today, following a complaint from the mother, police said.
The woman, who was seven months pregnant, had died on October 24 evening and her family buried the body the next day at a burial ground, police said.
However, her mother lodged a complaint suspecting foul play in the death and sought an detailed inquiry, they said.
The foetus was removed before burying the body.
Based on the order by the district administration, the body was exhumed today in the presence of doctors from health department, with tight police security.

The remains were sent for examination to Chennai and the report is expected by another three to four days, police said.
