Body of a missing woman found

The body of a missing 18-year-old woman was found floating in a canal near here, police said today.
Sadar SHO Sikander Singh identified her as Kiranjot Kaur of Badon village falling under Mehtiana Police Station.
He said her body was found floating near in Bisat Doab canal yesterday.
He said that she was missing since July 23 and her father Kuldip Singh had lodged a complaint about it with the police.
He said that the father identified the body and told police that his daughter had gone into depression after she failing in her class 12 examination.
The father said Kaur may have committed suicide by jumping into the canal, according to the SHO.

A case has been registered by the police in this connection, said the SHO.
The body was handed over to family after post-mortem examination, he said.
