Four fishermen were missing since November 28 after their boat hit a rock near Katchativu island, police said.
Initially the officials got the information that the fishermen got stranded in the island but they were not found there. Then Navy and coastguard launched a massive manhunt to trace them but they could not be found, the Fisheries Department Assistant Director Gopinath said.
In the meanwhile the Sri lankan navmen had traced the body of Zakir Hussain at Talamannar coast and informed the embassy officials, who in turn had informed the fisheries department, he said.
The three others were still missing, the officials said.
