Priyanka Chopra may have made a mark for herself on the international platform with American TV show "Quantico" and upcoming film "Baywatch", but the actress feels Indian actors deserve a lot more than what they get from the world.
The 33-year-old "Mary Kom" star said when an actor from India goes to work in the west, he or she often suffers at the hands of stereotyping.
"It is difficult to go to another country and do things. I want to thanks all my fans for being so supportive. We get just one per cent of what Indian actors deserve from the world. We shouldn't be boxed in a certain kind of role," Priyanka said during her acceptance speech at the IIFA awards.
The actress received two awards at the ceremony- best supporting actress and woman of the year.
Priyanka said she is extremely proud of being a part to the Hindi film industry and thanked all her directors for mentoring her so well that today she can stand her ground internationally.
"We are from one of the most prolific film industries from the world and I stand my ground no matter where I go. I thank every director who I have worked with in these 13-15 years.
"They have made me strong enough to go into any country and stand in front of any camera and between action and cut I know my job. Thank you Hindi film industry for teaching me to be the best I can be," the "Dil Dhadakne Do" actress said.
