Delhi residents experienced severe cold wave conditions today as icy winds swept the national capital and fog disrupted rail operations, delaying 52 trains.
The maximum temperature was recorded four notches below the season's average at 16.3 degrees Celsius, 1.8 degrees more than yesterday's maximum while the minimum settled a notch below normal at 6.8 degrees Celsius, MeT officials said.
Yesterday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 7.2 degrees Celsius.
"Moderate foggy conditions were witnessed as the visibility was recorded 500 meters at 5.30 AM and 8.30 AM. It improved to 800 meters at 11.30 AM and again reduced to 500 meters at 2.30 PM and 5.30 PM," the official said.
According to Northern Railways, 52 trains, almost all north-bound trains including premier trains like Rajdhani and Duronto Express are running late by several hours due to adverse weather conditions.
However, flight operations remained smooth, airport authorities said.
Humidity in air oscillated between 94 and 63 per cent.
It will be a mainly clear sky which will become partly cloudy afternoon onwards. There will be moderate to dense fog in the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 17 and 7 degrees Celsius, according to the MeT forecast.
