"The growth potential in beyond mobility segment is higher than the mobility business, but it does not mean we will (not) try our best in mobility as well," Dr Steffen Berns, Bosch Limited Managing Director and President, and Country Head for Bosch India, told reporters during an interaction on "Beyond Mobility Solutions' Tech Day" here.
The concept of beyond mobility means providing technological support and services beyond auto businesses.
"There is no competition between our 'mobility' and 'beyond mobility' businesses, and we want to utilise the opportunities available to us in the market to grow as fast as possible in these segments," he added.
Berns said, globally, the company has 40 per cent share in beyond mobility segment and 60 per cent in mobility segment, and in India it has about 15 per cent beyond mobility and 85 per cent mobility.
Asked about the estimated investments, Berns, however, did not divulge the breakup between mobility and beyond mobility businesses, but said the company had invested Rs 3,500 crore overall in the last four years in India and plans to invest Rs 1,100 crore this year.
Berns said Bosch is uniquely positioned to offer meaningful solutions by harnessing its expertise across hardware, software and services.
"India benefits significantly from this aspect as it is home to Bosch's largest engineering center outside Germany, and we do understand the country's local market requirements," he said.
On smart city programme, Berns said the company had been running pilot projects in Bengaluru.
