Auto component major Bosch expects its mobility business to grow by 5 per cent this year riding on the technology products in the commercial vehicle segment while it gears up to meet new emission standards in India and China.
"We want to further accelerate our growth which is why we are developing innovative services for the mobility of tomorrow alongside our solutions for vehicle electrification, automation and connectivity," Bosch Mobility Solutions Business Sector Chairman Rolf Bulander told reporters at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show here.
This year the company's mobility business will grow close to five per cent, he added.
This puts the company "well ahead" of global vehicle production which is expected to grow by less than 2 per cent this year, he added.
A large part of Bosch's growth comes from technology for commercial vehicles and the segment already generates a quarter of its sales with systems for light and heavy commercial vehicles, the company said.
The company also plans to intensify its efforts on solutions for trucks and off highway applications.
"Sales in the segment are expected to double in the next ten years with an increased focus in services and solutions," it added.
On new emission norms which are set to be introduced in two of the world's largest automobile markets China and India in the near future, the company said it would provide impetus to its business.
"New emission regulations have prompted an increase in the demand for modern diesel systems... There are plans to introduce comparable emission standards in the two growth regions of China and India," the company said.
India is set to leapfrog to BS VI, which is equivalent to Euro 6 emission norms, from 2020. It will move to BS IV norms across the country from April next year. Currently, BS IV is applicable in almost all major cities, including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad.
Bosch said by 2020 the proportion of common rail systems in newly manufactured commercial vehicles worldwide will have risen from 70 to 90 per cent.
"Alongside these developments, exhaust gas treatment is another growth are for Bosch," the company said.
