Bovine smuggling bid foiled, three held

Police today claimed to have foiled a major bovine smuggling attempt by arresting three alleged smugglers from Nagrota area on the outskirts of Jammu city.
Three persons identified as Mian Zulfkar, Tariq Ahmed and Mohammed Sadiq were arrested when they were trying to smuggle 94 bovine animals in six trucks, a police spokesman said in a statement issued here today.
He said the three were arrested while others managed to flee.
A case has been registered and all six trucks have been seized, he said, adding further investigations are on.
