Legendary singer David Bowie had given the permission to the makers of "Twin Peaks" to bring his character Phillip Jeffries back in the show's reboot before his death.
Bowie, 69, passed away last year on January 10 due to liver cancer.
The "Ziggy Stardust" singer played the mysterious FBI agent in the 1992 film "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" and was seen again on the recently-concluded "Twin Peaks: The Return."
According to Billboard, in a new Reddit AMA, Sabrina Sutherland, the executive producer of the show clarified that, prior to his death, Bowie knew Jeffries would return in the series.
Sutherland confirmed that Bowie "did give us permission to use his clips in this season."
Here, she is referring to the doctored footage of the musician's scene in "Fire Walk With Me" that appears in episodes of the reboot.
Bowie's role, however, was not limited to the clips. He also returned to offer cryptic advice to two versions of Dale Cooper as a large teapot with a metallic Southern accent.
