Boy's body found stuffed in trunk in Amethi

The body of a 10-year-old boy was found stuffed inside a trunk in his home in Amethi, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday evening when Mohammad Kaif's parents went to visit their relatives, leaving him and his 5-year-old brother alone in their house in Palpur Takiya village, they said.

They had asked their neighbours to keep an eye on the boys, SHO Jagdishpur Shyam Sunder said.

However, when they returned, they found Kaif missing. The parents raised an alarm and approached the police.

After hours of frantic search in and around the neighbourhood, the police finally found the boy's body in a trunk in the second floor of the house late last night, the SHO said.

The boy's father, Rahmat Ali, accused one of his neighbours of killing Kaif. The police lodged an FIR in the case.

The police said they were awaiting the post-mortem report.
