Acting on identification by the three abductors, police dug a field near Sone canal and recovered skeletal remains and clothes of Golu (9) who was kidnapped by the accused persons on March 17 last, Superintendent of Police (SP) Manu Maharaj said.

The boy was walking on his way to his school when Ranjan Kumar alias Mintu, Upendra Sah and Asha Devi kidnapped him for ransom to pay their debt, the SP said.

The victim's father Dhanji Singh had lodged an FIR in connection with abduction of his son for ransom, Maharaj said.

The kidnappers confessed to the crime following their arrest recently, the SP claimed, adding that the accused persons told the cops that they had kidnapped the boy and murdered him immediately after and buried his body underground near the Sone canal before making ransom call to his father.

The skeletal remains and clothes of the victim has been sent to a forensic laboratory for examination, Maharaj said.
