The woman's husband and the other accused, who killed the her on Sunday night, had cooked up a story before the police that two robbers had strangled her.

However, the statement of the employee's three-year-old son who was in the car with his six-year-old brother of not seeing anybody fight in the car led the police to doubt the accused's claims.

During sustained interrogation, the accused Salman Shaikh (26) confessed to have killed his wife with the help of his friends. Shaikh was arrested yesterday.

Subsequently, his two associates Shaikir Shaikh alias Ela (20) and Sadiq Mohammad Rafique Khan (20) were also nabbed, police said.

According to police, Shaikh was having an extramarital affair with a girl, whom he had recently married. He decided to kill his first wife Ayesha (24) to live with the second wife and hatched a conspiracy with his friends Shaikir and Sadiq, whom he offered Rs 20,000.
