The donor, Subhash Bhanushali, who hailed from Shahapur in Thane district, was admitted to Hrishikesh Hospital here yesterday for treatment of hyper tension.
"He had been kept on a ventilator, but was declared brain dead early this morning," chairman and managing director of Hrishikesh Hospital Dr Bhausaheb More said.
Dr More said his relatives were urged to donate his organs to the needy patients, to which they agreed.
The liver was sent to a hospital in Pune via green corridor.
A green corridor is a special route created for transportation of organs meant for transplant, sans red lights or with the traffic signals being operated on manual mode.
"The process to transplant the kidneys on two needy patients at Hrishikesh hospital has been initiated," Dr More said.
