BRO Chief visits Project Sampark in J-K, inspects roads

The Border Road Organisation (BRO) chief ended Thursday his four day visit to project Sampark in Jammu and Kashmir where he inspected various roads.

Lt Gen Harpal Singh toured Parole-Korepanu-Rajpura, Reasi-Arnas-Mahore, Reasi-Pouni-Siar-Rajouri, Budhal-Mahore-Gul roads. He also visited bridges Ujh and Bein in Kathua sector, an official spokesperson said.

He dedicated the road point 703-Bijli in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district to the Army.

He met the Army commander of the northern command, local formation commanders at Nagrota, Rajouri, Reasi, Jammu and Pathankot and stressed upon the need for close co-ordination between the BRO and the Army, the spokesperson said.

Singh also met the Jammu Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Verma and apprised him about the works being done on important roads under the project Sampark. He discussed impediments and hurdles in progress of work and sought his assistance in overcoming them.

During the visit, Singh emphasised on the judicious use of resources and timely completion of works while maintaining the quality as per the laid down norms and standards.

He conveyed that there was an urgent need to upgrade and adopt better technologies and materials in the work undertaken by the BRO so as to keep pace with the modernisation and to save time and speed up the progress.
