Excise sleuths seized brown sugar valued at over Rs 30 lakh from the possession of two persons in Balasore district on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of 25 excise personnel raided a house at Sasanbad area in Jaleswar and seized 310 grams of brown sugar from the possession of the man and his mother in the early hours, an excise official said.
Both Rahat Ali Khan and his mother Ramina Bibi were arrested in this connection, he said.
The seizure has come barely a month after 305 grams of brown sugar were recovered from the same area, he said.
