'The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress' tells the story of a lunar colony's revolt against rule from Earth. It was nominated for the 1966 Nebula Award and won the Hugo Award for best science fiction novel back in 1967.
Attempts to adapt the novel for big screen had been made twice before by DreamWorks and Phoenix Pictures, but none came to fruition.
