Power distribution company BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd today criticised the state-run transmission utility PGCIL for continuing with cut in power supply to the tune of 300 MW to it and said this will lead to load shedding in South and West Delhi localities.
Terming regulation to cut power supply by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) as "unjustified and arbitrary", BRPL said this may lead to load shedding in South and West Delhi and appealed to consumers to bear with them.
"Keeping in mind the larger interest of its consumers and the on-going school examinations, BRPL has so far managed to avoid any disruption of power supply.
However, if the regulation of power continues, BRPL may be compelled to resort to load shedding in its area of supply as the demand rises with the onset of summers," a statement from the discom said.
BRPL was making all possible efforts but if it becomes necessary, a tentative load shedding schedule would be issued so that the inconvenience to the domestic consumers can be minimised, it said.
PGCIL was continuing to regulate about 300 MW power (around 25 per cent of its current demand) from February 26 on account of some purported over dues and letter of credit despite an agreement between PGCIL and BRPL for lifting the regulation in February-end, the statement said.
The discom said PCGIL was not adhering to agreement, despite BRPL complying with the same.
"The discriminatory nature of PGCIL's action is in stark contrast with its approach to other state utilities with far higher dues and poorer payment records, which have not been subjected to such drastic measure as regulation of power supply," BRPL said, adding that it being a private utility has apparently been singled out.
