BSES eases process for getting power connection

In a novel initiative, power major BSES has launched two services which make it possible for people to get a connection from the comforts of home as the company has moved the entire process, ranging from application to document verification, online.
For those not adept with the Internet, the company has made separate arrangements through which officials would reach the applicant's doorstep with mobile tabs to complete all the formalities.
The discom said the latest offering to its potential consumers residing in its licenced areas of South, West, East and Central Delhi was part of its efforts towards 'Ease of Doing Business', "in which India ranks 137 (2014) in the World Bank index presently".

"One can apply for a new electricity connection, upload documents and even make payment from the comfort of his/his residence or office. There is no need for potential consumers to visit a BSES office -- not even once.
"All a person has to do is log on to BSES website www.Bsesdelhi.Com, click on the link 'New Connection Request' and complete the requisite fields and upload documents," a company spokesperson said.
Explaining the other process, an official said that using android platform-based mobile tabs, field executives would complete formalities and document checks from the houses itself.
"With these two services, BSES will be able to reduce the existing seven step process to get new connection to just three. BSES will now be able to complete the entire process of giving a new connection within 15 days," the official added.
