BSF deploys additional forces along Indo-Bangla border

The Border Security Force (BSF) has deployed additional forces along the 856 km long Indo-Bangla international border in Tripura to check entry of any unwanted elements into Indian territory in view of the Lok Sabha election in the state, official sources said today.
BSF DIG, B S Rawat said the strength of the security forces was augmented to keep a close vigil so that no untoward element could enter from across the border.
"We are also keeping close coordination with other security agencies in Tripura and closely monitoring the intelligence inputs. This high security measures would continue till vote ends in Tripura," Rawat told reporters.

Election for two Lok Sabha constituencies - West Tripura and East Tripura would be held on April 7 and April 12 respectively.
Sources in the state Election department said, 35 companies of additional forces were deployed in the state for peaceful conduct of the elections.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to set up nine all-women polling stations in the state considering the track record and good performance of the women polling personnel.
These all-women polling stations would be solely handled by the women only, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Asutosh Jindal said.
Altogether 19000 polling personnel would be deployed in 3095 polling stations in the state.
