BSF-IAF Joint Women Camel Expedition-2017 completes its

The BSF-IAF Joint Women Camel Expedition-2017, which passed through various border villages in three states of the country and covered a distance of 1,368 kilometers, today culminated at the JCP Attari here.
The expedition passed through border villages and towns of Gujarat (443 kms), Rajasthan (609 kms) and Punjab (316 kms).
It was flagged-off from the IAF Station in Uttarlai, Rajasthan on August 15.
The aim of the expedition was to promote awareness regarding the campaigns like 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao', 'Gender Equality' and 'Women Empowerment' among the border population, said BSF DIG (Punjab Frontier) R S Kataria.
The expedition comprised 20 women representatives of both the BSF and IAF.
The BSF 11-member contingent was led by Tanushree Pareek, AC, (the first lady officer in BSF), whereas SQN LDR Anioushka Lomas was leading the nine-member contingent of the IAF.
It entered Punjab on September 23 at Border Out Post Nejeke, Sector BSF Abohar, where it was accorded a grand reception.
The joint expedition covered 316 kms in the state and passed through border areas as well as towns of Sector Abohar, Ferozepur and Amritsar.
The expedition also aimed to build a positive image of the BSF and to promote the spirit of adventure and enterprise among the population, especially youth and women in the country, Kataria said.
