Home Ministry officials said this was the third incident of sniper fire from Pakistan side this year along the International Border and cannot be taken lightly as there have been increased activities by militants from across the border.
"BSF is likely to seek a flag meeting with Pakistani Rangers to lodge a strong protest," an official said.
Constable M Basu was injured in the sniper firing by Pakistani troops at around 11 AM.
BSF Head Constable Ram Niwas Meena of 200th Battalion was injured in sniper firing on Narainpur BoP area in Samba district along the IB on August 5. Meena, who suffered injury in his chest, died in AIIMS in New Delhi on August 11.
On the same day, a jawan received injuries during sniping incident at Alfa Machial BoP in Jammu sector and he was referred to AIIMS here.
