Alert BSF personnel noticed suspicious movement of miscreants near the border fence under Churiantpur Border outpost (BOP) last night and seized a bundle which was thrown over the fence, BSF sources said.
On opening the bundle, fake Indian currency notes of face value of Rs 6. 96 lakh (in denomination of Rs 2000 notes) were found, they said.
The seized FICN has been handed over to Kaliachak police station in Malda district for further legal action.
The BSF has seized FICN of face value of Rs 14.98 lakh (including this seizure) in West Bengal this year and has apprehended two smugglers, the sources added.
