Burglar inspired by 'Bunty Chor' arrested in Delhi

A 28-year-old suspected burglar, who aspired to be "more famous" than the notorious "Bunty Chor" and was wanted by the Mumbai Police in connection with burglaries, was arrested here, the police said today.
With the arrest, the police claimed to have solved 41 cases. Three men, including two who used to receive the stolen articles from the accused, were also arrested, the police said.
The police learnt that one Sahib alias Sabu alias Bunty, who was wanted by the Mumbai Police, had become quite active in the Trans-Yamuna area, where he was involved in a number of burglaries.
The accused was arrested on February 23 from near the 7 Block Gurdwara, Geeta Colony.

The police also recovered stolen articles, including laptops, jewellery and three CCTV cameras. A device, along with a CPU, that was used to crack the IMEI code of mobile phones was also recovered.
Three others -- Imran alias Saleem (30), Deep alias Mota (22) and Rajnish Manchanda alias Raju (41) -- were also arrested over the last fortnight, the police said.

Saleem and Mota used to receive the stolen articles from Bunty, while Raju helped him crack the IMEI numbers of stolen mobile phones, they added.
During interrogation, Bunty revealed that he wanted to become "more famous" than "Bunty Chor", said Nupur Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara).

He was inspired by the Bollywood movie, "Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye", based on the shenanigans of "Bunty Chor". He used to roam around on a stolen motorcycle to zero in on his next target and even greet the people of the area to avoid suspicion, the police said.
He had entered the world of crimes in Mumbai as a teenager when he stole a bicycle to impress his girlfriend. Subsequently, he came to Delhi with a design to commit sensational burglaries like "Bunty Chor", the officer said.
