Five people from Bihar, including two kids, were killed and seven seriously injured when the bus in which they were travelling collided with a dumper on the Lucknow-Faizabad highway early this morning.
The Volvo bus was on its way to Muzaffarpur in Bihar from Delhi's Anand Vihar inter-state bus terminus (ISBT). It hit the dumper while crossing the road near Safedabad town, around 25km from Lucknow, said the superintendent of police (SP), Virendra Srivastava.
The deceased have been identified as Mukesh Kumar (22), Ankita Yadav (18), Suraj Panapur Saroj (15), Israr Ali (1) and Shagufta (5), the SP said, adding that all of them belonged to Bihar.
The injured were admitted to the district hospital. Two seriously injured were rushed to Lucknow Trauma Centre, he added.
