Jharkhand Urban Development minister C P Singh today expressed concern over complaints by residents of some areas in Ranchi about inadequate water supply in the face of the government's commitment to provide water to every household by 2017.
Referring to the people of some areas of the state capital complaining that they sometimes did not receive water for as long as one week, an official release quoting Singh said it was a cause for serious concern as both the Centre and state governments' endeavour was to provide water to every household by 2017.
Singh said lack of coordination among officials concerned was the reason for inadequate supply of water and cited examples as to how one officials blame shortage of water from another area, while another official shifts it on inadequate electricity supply.
Drinking and Sanitation minister Chandraprakash Choudhary and several senior officials of different departments were present at the high-level meeting here as the two ministers asked the officials to ensure storage facility as well as strengthening the supply system.
The officials committed to the ministers that they would work towards providing the basic need to the people, the release added.
