The status-cum-progress report tabled was for the cabinet yesterday, in compliance with the February 27, 2012 Supreme Court judgment, and approved by the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry said.
"This will help in monitoring of inter-linking of river projects to be carried out under National Perspective Plan.
"The status-cum-progress report on Special Committee for inter-linking of rivers will be submitted bi-annually for the information of cabinet," the Ministry said in a statement.
It added the bi-annual report will ensure taking of an informed decision "in the interest of the country and as expeditiously as possible".
