Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said today that no interest would be charged on the compensation money returned by farmers who get back the land acquired for the Dadupur Nalvi canal following the state government's decision to de-notify it.
He was interacting with a delegation of farmers led by Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Krishan Kumar, and Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nayab Singh, who had come to thank him for the decision to de-notify the canal.
"Farmers' interest is above everything and under no circumstances, flood-like situation would be allowed to arise in Shahabad-Dadupur Nalvi area," Khattar said here.
After a detailed study it has been found that Dadupur Nalvi canal is not in the interest of farmers, hence, the decision to de-notify it, he said.
As many as 900 acres had been acquired for the canal and compensation at the rate of Rs 6 lakh per acre had been given, he said.
The chief minister said the opposition had been politicising the Dadupur Nalvi issue.
During the three-years of the present government, water has been provided to tail-ends at over 300 places in Hisar, Bhiwani, Dadri, Mahendragarh and Narnaul, where water never reached during thelast 30 years, he said.
