Two candidates for an Army recruitment examination were caught cheating in separate incidents using bluetooth devices, an Army officer said today.
In the first incident, the candidate had fixed the bluetooth device in a 'tabiz' (talisman) tied to his arm and the phone was hidden in his undergarments, the officer said.
Officials of the Army Recruiting Office caught the person at the common entrance examination held yesterday in Barrackpore for entry into the Army under various categories.
"This was the first time ever the candidates tried to use advanced technology for resorting to unfair means for the common entrance examination. The examinations at both the places were held peacefully subsequently," said Gp Capt T K Singha, Chief Public Relations Officer.
In a similar case in Berhampore where the examination was also held yesterday, the bluetooth device was stitched into the vest of a candidate and the pen had a microphone hidden inside it discreetly, he said.
Later, during his address to the candidates, Deputy Director General of Army recruiting office Brigadier S S Prasad explained how the touts exploit the candidates and about the secrecy maintained during the evaluation of the answer sheets.
