Police in Gandoh seized 501 quintals of CAPD wheat and Rice in 1002 bags from two private grocery shops at Bhatyas in Chilly Pingal Tehsil of Doda district, a police official said.
"Today, we received a specific information that government ration is being dumped in private shops, accordingly, a Police party raided two shops belonging to Abdul Latief and Ghulam Mustafa in Bhatyas market and recovered 672 bags of Rice and 330 bags of wheat," SDPO Gandoh, Bhushan Kumar Ganjoo said.
"We have initiated an inquiry and some more arrests are expected soon as it seems to be a big nexus of swindling government ration in open market", he said.
Police also sealed both the shops and lodged a case under various sections of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).
