Sahil Yadav, aged 20, who was studying in a medical college in Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, died in the accident which happened last night, they said.
Saurabh Jain, the other occupant of the car, received injuries, police said.
Yadav was at the wheel when the car fell into the canal, they said.
