Cardamom prices fell 2.47 per cent to Rs 1,170.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions amid low demand.
Besides, sufficient stocks on higher arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions too weighed on the prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in October fell by Rs 29.60, or 2.47 per cent, to Rs 1,170.20 per kg, in a business turnover of 112 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in far-month November edged down by Rs 26.90, or 2.30 per cent, to Rs 1,145 per kg, with a trading volume of 4 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators amid higher supplies from producing regions and sluggish demand in the spot market mainly pulled down cardamom prices in futures trade.
